September Newsletter
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness month. The National Council had requested the Provincial reps arrange to have buildings / structures lit in blue where available. We arranged to have the High Level Bridge lit in blue (Sept 1).   Shelley from the BC Foundation arranged to have The Legislative Assembly lit (Sept 1) and the Art Gallery lit Sept 25 in recognition of PC Awareness.
We are not holding a meeting this month as we continue to search for an appropriate venue. We will hold a meeting Oct 11. Hopefully this can be our first meeting at Wellspring. I am waiting for confirmation from Dr Tamm to confirm as our speaker. Dr Tamm is conducting trials on PSMA PET Scans ( use of PET scan in conjunction with radio tracers – to locate small sites of disease not normally detected by scan alone). The more precise scans Improve treatment choice.
The BC Foundation is hosting a virtual Prostate Cancer conference September 17/18.
Speaker line up and registration can be accessed at  2022 Prostate Cancer Virtual Conference
As much as I would like to experience my first Virtual Conference, I will not be able to attend the virtual conference as my wife and I are traveling in September. The BC Foundation has done a wonderful job of putting the conference together and I would encourage members to review the Conference agenda with the aim of attending.
Dan will also include a request below from the Canadian Cancer Network for volunteers to help them improve input from PC Patients and caregivers. I simply do not have time to step up for this opportunity. It would be good if an Edmonton member took on this role.
Enjoy the wonderful month of September.
